James Walter Greene

James Walter Greene, 86, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Erwin, TN. and the son of the late William Courtney Greene and Ethel McCurry Greene. He retired from Burlington Industries where he was employed as a textile worker for over 50 years. James was a veteran of the United States Army. He was of Baptist faith and devoted his life to singing for the Lord for 53 years with Dare Bennett. They travel to many churches near and far over the years. James was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: his wife of over 51years, Helen Christine Greene; sisters, Violet Howard and Pauline Hartley; brothers, Clyde Greene, Bill Greene and Jack Greene. Survivors include: son, Eric Greene (wife Angela) of Johnson City, TN.; daughter, Tina Whitson (husband Luke) of Jonesborough, TN.; four grandchildren, Jessica Whitson, Katie Whitson, Hope Stewart and Faith Stewart; host of nieces and nephews.
