James Wesley Dotson

James 'Jay'? Wesley Dotson, 89 was born and raised in Piney Flats, Tennessee. After fighting several illnesses he went to be with the Lord and his son. He passed surrounded by family and friends at their home in Gray, Tennessee on October 19, 2011. Jay served our country proudly for over 22 years in the Navy. He was a WWII veteran. He retired from C&T Volkswagon as a mechanic. Also retired from Phil Bachman Honda as a transfer driver. He was an ordained deacon, minister, member and Sunday School teacher at Boone Trail Baptist Church. The best husband, father and grandfather. Married for over 64 years to the love of his life. Preceded in death by his mother, Julia Penix, son Douglas Dotson, brothers, Albert 'Jeep'? Dotson and Orville Penix; several brother and sisters-in-law and Wes Mowdy his son-in-law. Survivors include: his wife Bonnie Howell Dotson of the home; granddaughter Tiffany Mowdy Hensley and her husband Allen, their children, Jacob Painter, Shelby Mowdy, Ellie Greneu and Cheyenne Singleton, Erica Hensley; great great grandchildren, Corry Higgins, Leland Arnette and Raylynne Miller all of Gray, Mitchell Dotson and wife Kasey of California; daughter-in-law Connie Dotson and children Doug and Caitlyn Dotson of Hiltons, Virginia; Michelle Hensley and children Catherine, David and Abagail Hensley of Gray; one sister Mary Lee Hopson and husband Frank of Sulphur Springs; sisters-in-law Dorothy Talley of Piney Flats, Lily Overbay of Kingsport; one brother-in-law Jimmy Howell of Virginia; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, October 24, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Boone Trail Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until time of service at seven. A committal service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Military Honors will be provided by the Boone Dam VFW and the Tennessee National Guard.
