Mr. James Wilbur Lewis, age 76, of Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at his daughters residence. Mr. Lewis was a native of Blountstown, Florida. He had lived most of his life in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of the late Jesse Cullen Lewis and Dovie Hatcher Lewis. In addition to his parents his wife, Betty M. Burke Lewis; one son, Tony Lewis; one granddaughter, Lisa Rena; two brothers, Leroy Lewis and Leonard Lewis; four sisters, Leonna, Pearl, Lavada and Laverne also preceded him in death. Mr. Lewis retired from Brachs Candy Company after thirty-six years of service. Dad loved music; he played multiple instruments and loved to sing beautiful songs. He is survived by one daughter, Cheryll McGuire and her husband Willie; one son, James E. Lewis and his wife Heather; four brothers, J.C. Lewis and his wife Lucy, Louie Lee Lewis and his wife Margarite, Norman Lewis and Larry Lewis; eight grandchildren, Candice Hill and her husband Channing, Matthew McGuire and his wife Katie, Anthony Lewis, Emily Lewis, Valerie Lewis, Zachary Lewis, Stacy Butler and Kayla Lewis; four great grandchildren, Breonna Hill, Cameron Hill, Brycen Hill and Conner Butler; special nephew, Bobby Lewis and his wife Charlie; many other nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service for Mr. James Wilbur Lewis will be conducted at 7 PM Friday, August 30, 2013 in the Boones Creek Baptist Church. Pastor Kenneth W. Kyker will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM Friday prior to the service and other times at the residence of the daughter, 2612 Austin Village Blvd, Johnson City.
