James William Buddy Barefield

James William ?Buddy' Barefield, age 75, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 27, 2015 following a short illness due to cardiac difficulties. He was born on March 15, 1940 and was a native of Atlanta, GA, but resided in Tennessee for the majority of his life. Most recently he was a resident of both Jonesborough, TN and Sebring, FL. He was the son of the late Lamont Wade and Miriam Boyd Wade. He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Charlotte Wilson Barefield; three sisters: Annette George, Faye Rodriguez, and Lynn Augustine; children: James David and spouse, Mary; Connie Bailey; Charla Bacon and spouse, Jerry; Beth Davis and spouse, John; David W.; and Lindsay Maden and spouse, Noah; and grandchildren Tyler, Jordan and Joshua Bacon, Sydney, Jacob, and Brandon Davis, Kayla Bailey, and Emma, Lola, and Hank Maden. Buddy proudly served his country in the United States Army 256 Transportation Corp after high school. He was a graduate of Steed College and the University of Wisconsin and was employed by First Tennessee Bank where he retired after 42 years. He loved the Lord and was an active member of the Central Church of Christ in Johnson City, TN and Avon Park Church of Christ in Avon Park, FL. He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed camping in his motorhome, painting ceramics, and spending time with his dogs Toby and Tiny. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00pm Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home with Timothy Hall and Don Smith officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm prior to the service. A military graveside service will be held at 11:30 am Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will his grandsons, Brett Jones, and Mitchell Hatley. Honorary pallbearer will be Hank Maden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude?s Children?s Hospital.
