Mrs. Jane Brumit Shipley age 84, of 324 Jonesboro Rd., Piney Flats, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 21, 2012, after a brief stay at the Pigeon Forge Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was a native of Johnson City, TN and lived in Elizabethton and St. Petersburg, FL. She was the daughter of the late Luther William and Frances Pearl Crumley Brumit. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Arthur F. Shipley, one brother, three sisters and one loving granddaughter, Heather Shipley. Mrs. Shipley was a small business owner in Johnson City for many years, and retired from the Election Commission in St. Petersburg, Fl. She was formerly a member of First Baptist Church, Elizabethton, and most recently a member of Piney Flats First Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Brown of Pigeon Forge, one son, Richard Shipley and wife, Sue, of Hampton, one grandson, David Brown and wife, Laura, of Knoxville, three granddaughters, Mikki Brown of Pigeon Forge, Missi Brown Emmert and husband, Rodney, of Nashville, and Laura Shipley of PA; two great-grandchildren, Dalton and Brooklin Emmert of Nashville. A graveside service for family and friends will be conducted at 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Happy Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Dr. Allen Davis will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be David Brown, Dalton Emmert, Rodney Emmert, Steve Brown, Joe Brumit, Sam Harvey, Bill Wise, Sr., Bill Wise, Jr., Timothy Wise, Bill Looney, Larry Schwartz, Charles Schwartz, General Fred McCorkle (retired) and Howard Arthur. Those wishing to attend, please meet at the cemetery by 12:45pm on Wednesday.
