Janice Florence Jones

September 14, 1927 — July 10, 2017

Janice Florence Jones, 89, of Johnson City, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 at her home. Janice was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to the late Roland and Elsie Tabler Otis. She was a native New Englander who spent her adult life in Michigan. She retired to Florida in 1978, and resided in Gate City, Virginia before moving back to Florida, and ultimately relocating to Johnson City, Tennessee in 2014. Janice was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She had been a ?mother' to her daughters? friends growing up and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren when they were young. She loved the beach, the ocean, and seafood, and she also enjoyed sewing and knitting. Janice was a member of St. Bernard?s Catholic Church in Gate City, VA. She was also an active member of the Loyal Order of Moose (Women of the Moose). In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four sisters. Survivors include: her husband of almost 70 years, Isaac Jones; three daughters, Dianna Jones Holliman and her husband Steven Holliman MD, Peggy Jones, and Linda Jones; five grandchildren, Brooke Holliman, Lynsey Holliman, Tracie Gallagher, and Vicky L?Heureux; four great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Neidermeyer, Brendon Neidermeyer, Christopher Azzam, and Cara Gallagher; three great great grandchildren, Faith, Kayden, and Atticus; sister, Joyce Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friend and former son-in-law, Victor L?Heureux. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of the caregivers that participated in Janice?s care. A special thank you to St. Mary?s as well for coming to the home and offering comfort and communion. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church in Gate City, Virginia.
