Janie Fuller Stout passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2007, at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Janie was the daughter of the late Emily Hamilton Fuller and C. F. Fuller, Sr. Her family moved to Knoxville when she was four and lived there until 1968, when she moved to Johnson City. Janie was married in June 1960 to Eddie Stout and the enjoyed 47 years of marriage. They were High School Sweethearts and remained close to their friends and connections at South High. Janie was the class Secretary and loved her involvement with this group. Janie began work at Hamilton Bank in 1968 and managed several different departments. She was one of the first women to obtain a management position at Hamilton. In January 1988, she joined First Tennessee Bank and excelled in her position there. She won numerous sales awards and was a leader. Janie thoroughly enjoyed her job, interaction with customers, and co-workers. Janie achieved tremendous success in loan management becoming a role model for junior leaders. Janie was involved with many community groups, working with the Chamber of Commerce, City of Johnson City Clean Team, Junior Achievement, and the United Way. Her Favorite organization was Girls, Inc. and she served on the Board of Trustees in every capacity and position. She loved visiting the Center and was always touched by the girls love for the Center. Besides her husband Eddie, Janie leaves behind: her sister Mary Webb of Johnson City and her companion George Walsh; a special niece Julia Saul and husband Michael of Fayetteville, GA and their children, Abigail Saul and Lucas Saul; nephew Gordon Wright and wife Lori of Knoxville; niece Janet Wright of Knoxville; niece Trina and husband Bill Cotner of St. Louis; niece Greta and Husband Bob Ripley of Dubuque, Iowa; nephew Michael Fuller of Texas; niece Patty and husband Dan McGehee of New Orleans; her husbands brothers Ron and wife Vickie McCarley of Johnson city; Steve McCarley of Knoxville; Roger and wife Leslie McCarley of Knoxville; a number of great nieces and nephews also survive. She also leaves her life long friends Polkie Gregory and Beth Hilton. Janie was predeceased by her sister Lou Ossowsky of St. Louis, brother C.F. Fuller of New Orleans, and sister Nancy Fuller Wright of Knoxville. Funeral services will be held at 8 PM Monday, September 24, 2007 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Michael Saul will officiate the service and Beth Hilton and Polkie Gregory will offer the eulogy. The family will receive friends, Monday, from 6:00 pm until the service time of 8:00 pm at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends in Knoxville at Barry Funeral Chapel, 3704 Chapman Highway from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, Tuesday, with graveside services to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Knoxville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to Girls, Inc., 227 Library Lane, Johnson City, TN 37601.
