Jarrett Tyler Whitson, age 39, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 21, 2024. 

Jarrett was born on September 6, 1985, to Ronald and Ginger Levette Whitson in Johnson City, Tennessee. After graduating from Science Hill High School in 2003, he attended college at ETSU and earned his Doctor of Pharmacy through the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy in 2012. Jarrett worked as a pharmacist, serving the Greeneville, Johnson City, and Jonesborough communities. His most recent position was with the Food City pharmacy in Jonesborough. 

Jarrett married the love of his life, Brittany Kyte, on November 8, 2014. They loved to travel, traveling Europe for their fifth wedding anniversary, and visiting the national parks. Jarrett and Brittany were in the process of visiting every national park in every state, Yellowstone being their favorite. 

Jarrett enjoyed fishing, playing video games, disc golfing, and listening to vinyl records- he especially enjoyed 90's alternative rock music. He was a kind and generous person who loved everybody. He will be greatly missed.

Jarrett was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Whitson, in 2016. Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Ginger Whitson; wife, Brittany Whitson; sister, Maci (Chris) Ostrouchov; niece, Emmy Ostrouchov and a nephew on the way; mother and father-in-law, Norma and Rick Kyte; and his special dogs, Toby, Penelope, and Buttons. 

Jarrett's family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service immediately follow at 8:00 pm, officiated by Matt Lorencen and Demetrius Lattany. The funeral will be livestreamed and available to view for 90 days on his obituary page through the Morris-Baker website. A graveside service will commence at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Happy Valley Memorial Park, under the direction of Pastor Tim Tapp. Those attending the graveside service are asked to please meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am. Active pallbearers include: Dave Bernhardt, Justin Reilley, Mike Stepp, Jeremiah Shoun, Jimmy Ball, and Jason Flack. Honorary pallbearers include Rick Kyte, Jerry Stout, and JRT Men's Bible Study Group. 

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Jonesborough Food City and Jonesborough Repertory Theatre for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jarrett's honor are preferred to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org).
