J.B. Whitson

Mr. J.B. Whitson, 59, 907 Afton Street, Johnson City died Sunday March 8, 2009 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Whitson was a native of Relief, North Carolina who had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was the son of the late Charles E. and Rose Mae Vance Whitson. In addition to his parents his grandparents, Garfield and Mary Ray, also preceded him in death. Mr. Whitson retired from Burlington Industries in Johnson City after thirty-three years of service. Survivors include: one son, Troy Whitson and his wife Angel of Johnson City; one daughter, Tina Miller and her husband Greg of Telford; three sisters, Arlena Renfro of Johnson City, Polly Tolley and her husband Michael of Jonesborough and Patricia Whitson of Johnson City; three brothers, Michael Whitson of Johnson City, Charles R. Whitson of Unicoi and James Calvin Ray of Unicoi; five grandchildren, Seth Whitson, Brianna Clay, Alycia Clay, Ava Miller and Zachery Miller. The funeral service for J.B. Whitson will be conducted at 8 PM Tuesday March 10, 2009 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Roger Laws will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 AM Wednesday in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 AM Wednesday to go in procession. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday prior to the service.
