J.D. Hoover

J.D. Hoover, 92, Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015. J.D. is a Bristol, VA native and son of the late Claude M. and Sarah Gillenwater Hoover. Mr. Hoover was a US Army veteran, having served in WWII. He was a plant manager of Johnson City Foundry and Machine Works. Mr. Hoover was a deacon emeritus at Unaka Avenue Baptist Church. He also was a member of Johnson City Masonic Lodge #486. J.D. is preceded in death by: wife of 68 years, Helen Pippin Hoover; two sisters: Frances Shelton and Beatrice Plaskie; and one brother, Bill Hoover. He is survived by: two sons, David D. Hoover, of Kingsport, and Daniel L. Hoover, of Johnson City; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. The family of J.D. Hoover will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM Friday, July 31, 2015 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers include Webb Schwartz and Gene Weems. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 PM Friday to go in procession to Mountain Home National Cemetery for 1:00 PM graveside services.
