Jean Burgess Vest

Jean Burgess Vest, 91, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Montclair, New Jersey to the late Charles Edward Burgess and Williamina Cunningham Campbell Burgess. She was a member of Central Baptist Church for most of her adult life. Jean was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy in the first class of Navy Waves. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: her sister, Louise Burgess Griffiths and son-in-law, Anthony Bradley Couch. Survivors include: son, Charles Warren Vest III and wife Robin of Jeffersonton, VA.; two daughters, Janet Vest Hardin and husband Terry of Johnson City, TN. and Rebecca Maurer Couch of Nashville, TN.; brother, Charles Burgess and wife Jeannie of New Vernon, New Jersey; five grandchildren, Robert Vest and wife Ellen, Kevin Vest and wife Missi, Daniel Maurer and wife Britney, Andrew Hardin and Samantha Hardin;great-grandchildren, Corian Vest, Grace, Lucas and Lily Vest and Hayden and Lily Maurer; niece, Nancy Burgess Jones; two special friends, Leigh Neil and George Granger. Special 'Thank You'? to; Dr. Michael Grossrode, Mt. States Hospice, Nursing staff of the 7400 wing of the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital and special caregiver Sara White. The family of Jean Burgess Vest will receive friends from 11:45 AM until 12:45 AM Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Procession will leave for Monte Vista Memorial Park immediately following for 1:00 PM graveside service. Pastor Tim Tapp will be officiating.
