Jean M. Fields, 88, Johnson City, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018, following a lengthy battle with kidney disease. Jean was born in Barren Springs, VA to the late Everett G. and Carrie Frost Montgomery. Jean has lived in Johnson City since 1952. Jean graduated from Glade Spring High School in 1947 and later went on to study nursing at Duke University. She as an anesthesiologist at Johnson City Memorial Hospital and later at the VA for 25 years. She was a member of the Johnson City Country Club. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by: her husband of 17 years, Dr. Ray Fields; one son, Roger Fields; two sisters, Fay Clear and Okla Blevins; and one brother, Grey Wade. Survivors include: one grandson, Morgan Fields, of Nashville; and one daughter-in-law, Tina Fields, of Johnson City; and two nieces. Special thank you to everyone involved in Jean?s care: Karen Towns, Teresa Bennett, Diana Gillispie, Amedisys, Lauren, Natasha, Pete, Talea, Vanessa, Regina, Michelle, Brett, Jacqueline, Jay, Layla, and Tracey. Also, very special thank you to her nurse, Tracey Romane and her doctor of many years, Dr. Molton. For those who wish to attend, a committal service will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, January 6, 2018, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to meet at the graveside at 12:50 PM.
