Jean Raines

May 19, 1924 — June 3, 2006

Jean Raines, 82, of 869 Allison Road, Piney Flats went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 3, 2006. Mrs. Raines was a native of Jellico, TN and was a long time resident of Piney Flats. She was a daughter of the late Gaylor and Eliza Smiddy Ivey. Mrs. Raines was a homemaker and attended the Tri-Cities Church of God. Jean was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, neighbor and friend. She loved her family and friends with all her heart and spent her life caring for the welfare of others. She will be sadly missed because she was greatly loved by everyone who knew her. She made quilts for her daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. She gave away quilts to her sisters and friends. She is preceded in death by : her parents; one brother, Jack Ivey; one sister, Evelyn Widener; and one son-in-law, Norton Muse. Survivors include: her husband, Litt Raines of the home; three daughters, Aleen Muse of Lawton,OK, Judy and her husband Reverend Ken Bewley of Elizabethton, and Wanda Raines of Piney Flats; son-in-law, Charles Perry; four sisters, Nora Hyslope of Jellico, TN, Lora Walker of Knoxville, Opal Ivey of Jellico, and Mary Sue Davenport of Toledo, OH; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive. The funeral service for Jean Raines will be conducted at 8 PM Tuesday, June 6, 2006 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Richard Bawgus will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday in the New Bethel Cemetery. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker at 10:15 AM Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Johnny Smith, Bill Smith, Bud Myers, Ronnie Martin, Johnny Williams, and Clifford Meader. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday prior to the service.
