Jean S. Fields

October 24, 1929 — January 11, 2010

Jean S. Fields, 80, of Johnson City passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 in the Appalachian Christian Village. Mrs. Fields was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and a daughter of the late Clyde Greene Simerly and Ibbie Jane McKinney Simerly. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Fields retired from ETSU as lead cashier in the bookstore after sixteen years of service. She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Richard Fields in 2002; a sister, Louise Woodby; and a brother, Paul E. Simerly. Survivors include: one daughter, Lisa J. Fields of Johnson City; one son, Richard E. and his wife Beckie Fields of Johnson City; one sister, Frances Fletcher of Johnson City; one brother, C.H. Simerly of Charlotte, NC; a special niece, Karen Surmacewicz and family of Richmond, VA; other nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Jean S. Fields will be conducted at 8 PM Wednesday, January 13, 2010 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. Don Muncie will officiate. A service of Entombment will be conducted at 10 AM Thursday, in the Chapel Mausoleum at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 AM Thursday. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday prior to the service. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Alzheimers Association, 207 N. Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37604 or to the Adult Day Care Services, 601 Bert Street, Johnson City, TN 37604 The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses, C.N.A.s ,and entire staff of Appalachian Christian Village for their loving care and kindness.
