Rev. Jerry Aden Carver, age 64, of Blountville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Sullivan County, Tennessee, a son of the late Robert Carver and Nancy Bishop Carver. In addition to his parents four brothers and one sister also preceded him in death. Rev. Carver has been in full time ministry for 43 years and was presently the pastor at Watauga Flats First Church of God. Rev. Carver is survived by his wife, Judy A. Carver; two sons, Ronnie Carver and wife Debbie, of Chuckey Tennesse, and Brian Carver, of Limestone; one daughter, Nancy Carver Grooms and husband Steve, of Greeneville; former wife, mother of his three children Sandra Scott Carver; one step son, Travis Dishner and wife Misty, of Piney Flats; two brothers, Don Carver, of Albertsville, AL, and Harold Carver, of Kingsport; three sisters, Edna Bradley, of Lake Charles, LA, Barbara Gouge, of Pensicola, FL, and Ruby Williams, of Pensicola, FL; nine grandchildren, Chad Carver, Brandy Carver, Cortney Grooms, Kip Grooms, Rebecca Grooms, Haylee Carver, Kylee Carver, Karlee Carver, and Mollee Carver; one step granddaughter, Ashley Shaffer; one great grandson, Brody Logan; one special nephew, Tony Carver; and special dogs, JJ and Buba. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Watauga Flats First Church of God, 242 Watauga Flats Road, Johnson City, Tn 37601. The family would like to express a special thank you to Mountain States Hospice and Dr. M. Ray Lamb and his staff. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel and again Friday, January 7, 2011 from 12 noon until 1 pm. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, January 7, 2011 in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel with Rev. David Dugger and Rev. Larry Pike officiating and the Evangelaires will be singing. Burial will follow in the Edgefield Cemetery, in Piney Flats, Tennessee. Pallbearers will be Chad Carver, Kip Grooms, Steve Grooms, Tony Carver, Travis Dishner, Mike Lamons, Dwayne Cole, and Scott Rasnick. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Gregg, Jerry Miller, Bob Brockwell, Tom Scott and Larry Scott.
