Jerry M. Hammonds

Jerry M. Hammonds, 84, Bolivar, TN, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Pine Meadows Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Scott County, VA and was the son of the late William Johnson and Norma Edna Williams Hammonds. Mr. Hammonds spent 35 years of his life in Florida, and the rest in Tri-cities. Mr. Hammonds is a U.S. Army veteran having served in Korea, Japan, and Thule, Greenland. Mr. Hammonds retired from Rinker Materials Corporation in 1992 after 25 years of service. Mr. Hammonds was a member of Watauga Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by: his wife of 60 years, Myrtle Bledsoe Hammonds; and two sisters, Ruby Marshall and Francis Jones. Survivors include: one son, Timothy Hammonds, and his wife, Margie, of Cocoa, FL; one daughter, Karen Jerrolds, and her husband, Mike, of Adamsville, TN; four grandchildren, Brittany Verek, and her husband, Duane, of Titusville, FL, Meagan Hardison, and her husband, Casey, of Beech Bluff, TN, Matthew Snelling, of Henderson, TN, and Jeremy Hammonds, of Cocoa, FL; two great grandchildren, Garrett and Camyn Hardison, of Beech Bluff, TN; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Jerry Hammonds will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM with Rev. Mike Richards officiating. Pallbearers will be selected by family and friends. The procession will leave Morris-Baker at 12:45 PM to go in procession to Monte Vista Memorial Park for 1:00 PM graveside services.
