Jessie Jennie Day, 96, of Johnson City died Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Washington County, daughter of the late John Harvey and Nannie Alice Byrd Day. Jessie was a graduate of ETSU. She was Secretary to the Chief of Medical Services at the James H. Quillen Medical Center. Jessie was former president and member of Tri Cities Chapter of National Secretaries Association and won secretary of the year in 1968. She also was former president and member of the Monday Club Auxiliary. She was a longtime member and former Sunday school teacher at First Presbyterian of Johnson City. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruth Day Rickman, Vivian Day Kelly, Ella Day and Alpha Day Howard; five brothers, Luster, Tasker, Monroe, Edison and George Day. Survivors include three brothers, Garnett R. Day of Johnson City, Charles R. Day of Abingdon, VA and Frank L. Day of Albany, NY; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 2:00pm until 3:00pm at the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm in the Oak Chapel under the direction of Gerald Malcolm. A committal service will be conducted on Monday, march 6, 2017 at 11:00am in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Johnson City. Family and friends are asked to assemble by 10:45am.
