Mrs. Jessie Lee Dugger Frye, age 87, of Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012, in the Appalachian Christian Village. Mrs. Frye was a native of Elk Park, Avery County, North Carolina, born October 11, 1924. Her parents were the late Milton Harold Dugger and Jessie Cornell Dugger. She married Harold Frye on August 27, 1954 in New York, New York. He preceded her in death on Novermber 17, 2008. In her younger years Jessie was a waitress and hand model. After marrying she became a homemaker, committing her life to the care of her husband who was a blinded WWII veteran. They were actively involved with various Veteran Associations as well as ETSUs Institute for Continued Learning. They enjoyed traveling. They resided in Mexico for 10 years, moving back to the Johnson City area in the early 80s to care for her elderly parents. Jessie enjoyed sewing, creating, cooking, and reading. Survivors include her 7 nieces, Juanita Miller of Sturgis, MI, Kathy (Dave) Miller of White Pigeon, Karen (Chuck) Sobeski of Bronson, MI , Garnetta (Ed) Weigt of Bronson, MI, Debbie (Scott) Stevens of Sturgis, MI, Dixie (Tom) Pittenger of Sturgis, MI, MaryAnn (Dave) Byler of Arizona and one nephew Doug Frye of Sturgis, MI. Cremation has taken place. The graveside committal service for Mrs. Jessie Frye will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2012 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery.
