Jewel Shelton Greene

Jewel Shelton Greene, 72, of Johnson City, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at her home.

She was a native of Johnson City, and daughter of the late Grady Shelton and Thelma Tomlinson Pierce.

Jewel loved life. She was committed to her family and friends, spending time with them whenever she was able. Whether it was crafting, sharing a meal, traveling, solving crimes on television, or watching the Vols, time spent with Jewel was always special. She will be missed.

She was a very compassionate person and a hard worker, two things she tied together in her work as a paralegal. Good Samaritan Ministries and The Washington County Legal Clinic honored her in 2018 for 10 years of dedication to her community, donating her time and expertise to help others find justice. She was still going strong before she became ill in late 2020, never missing a Saturday for twelve years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Grady Shelton, Jr., and aunt, Martha T. Miller.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rena’ Williams, and granddaughter, Jenna Williams; as well as many friends, coworkers, and a grateful community.
