Mr. Jim D. Sutphin, 78, of Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016, in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Sutphin was a lifelong resident of East Tennessee. He was the son of the late Charles and Mamie Wilson Sutphin. He worked for Burlington Mills for 40 years until his retirement. After his retirement he went to work for Steve King Diary Farm for several years. Also, he was a devoted Christian. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sutphin was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Guinn; two brothers, George ?Bill' Sutphin and Raymond Sutphin; one niece, Carolyn Bowman; and one nephew, Jason Edwards. Survivors include: one son, Charles Sutphin and his wife Cathy; one sister, Betty Edwards and her husband Wayne; three brothers, Carl Sutphin and his wife Joanne, Steve Sutphin, and Richard Sutphin; and several grandkids, nieces, and nephews. A graveside committal service will be conducted at 2 PM Friday, July 8, 2016 in the Roselawn Memorial Park with Mr. Jerry Carr and Pastor Mike Richards officiating. Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 PM. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association.
