Rev. Jimmie Lee Harmon, Sr., 71, 312 Weaver Hill Road, Johnson City died Monday August 3, 2009 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Harmon was a native of Sugar Grove, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Carl and Dolly Ward Harmon. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Cleo and Lillie; two brothers, Buddy and Johnny; two children, Randy and David. Mr. Harmon was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He owned and operated Jim Harmon Roofing Company and worked for many years at the Johnson City Press. Mr. Harmon attended Upper Room Pentecostal Church on Midway Street. Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Jean Harmon of the home; seven children, Sarah Harmon Belotto of Florida, Sandra Harmon Lambert of Phoenix, Arizona, Carl L. Harmon of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jimmie L. Harmon, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona, George L. Harmon of Salt Lake City, Utah, Marty T. Harmon of Johnson City and George S. Gross of Johnson City; three sisters, Mary Owens of Polkton, North Carolina, Katie Atkins and Kathy Patrick both of North Carolina, four local grandchildren, Christina Gross, Charlene Gross, Jacob Gross and Joey Cross; twenty-seven out of state grandchildren; one local great grandchild, Kaiden Price; fourteen out of state great grandchildren. The funeral service for Mr. Harmon will be conducted at 8 PM Friday August 7, 2009 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Joel Byrd and Rev. Billy Whitlock will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM prior to the service.
