Mr. Jimmy Eric Whetsel, age 48, of 2002 Michael Drive passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Whetsel was a native of Kingsport. He was the son of the late Horace Whetsel and Buena Bowser Fleenor. In addition to his parents his step-father, Gene Fleenor also preceded him in death. Mr. Whetsel was an Industrial Electrician for Action Electric. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Survivors include: his loving wife of 26 years, Gaylia Whetsel of the home; one son, Eric Whetsel of the home; one brother, Alan Whetsel of Bristol; one sister, Judith Ann Whetsel of Kingsport; mother-in-law, Frances Smith; one uncle, HC Bowser; one aunt, Naomi Depew; two nephews, Mike Whetsel and Nicholas Whetsel; several cousins; special pets, Tigger and Maggie. The funeral service for Mr. Jimmy Eric Whetsel will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, July 7, 2011 in the Southside Baptist Church. Rev. Willie Lunsford will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Friday in the Roselawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Eddie Mobley, Rick Reaves, Josh Reaves, Luther Livingston, Mike Whetsel and Todd Davis. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at Southside Baptist Church Friday at 10:15 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Southside Baptist Church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Southside Baptist Church, 1928 Wheeler Street, Johnson City, Tn. 37604.
