Jo Ann Curtis

Jo Ann Curtis, age 76, our loving precious mother, grandmother, and great grandmother went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at NHC Healthcare following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Curtis was born on July 11, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Gladys and William Waller. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1978, a granddaughter, Lou Ann Rachael Markland, a grandson, Carl Anthony Curtis and a brother, Robert Waller. She was of the Baptist faith and had attended The Living Word Baptist Church for almost 16 years. She was known as 'Granny Jo'? and was loved by everyone she met. She loved to talk about her family. She was a blessing to everyone around her. Her nurses and other caregivers was her extended family as was her church. She leaves behind to mourn her passing, five daughters and fours sons: Jessie Markland and husband, John, Susan Bishop and husband, Tom, Sherry Markland and husband, James; Barbara Lau and husband, Jon; Shawn Hoilman and husband, George; Carl L. Curtis and wife Samantha, Larry Curtis and wife, Wanda; Shannon Curtis and wife, Christina and Scott Curtis and fiancée, Beverly. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren and also a brother, Johnny Waller and his wife, Iva. The funeral service for Mrs. Curtis will be conducted at 8 PM Sunday, January 11, 2009 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel with the Reverend Dale Ferrell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Graveside services and interment will be held at 10 AM Monday, January 12, 2009 at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 AM and travel in procession to the cemetery. Mrs. Curtis grandsons will serve as active pallbearers and her great grandsons as honorary pallbearers.
