Joan Cicely Dunkelberger, an 84 year old beautiful loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother of Johnson City passed away February 28, 2009. She was a native of Brandon, Suffolk, England and a naturalized United States citizen since March 1949.Joan is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert, and was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Alice Snare. She is also survived by her brother, Hugh, a niece and nephews, Roger and Dinah Burgess and Michael Marriott, all in Wales, and a niece and nephew, Di Denys and Pamela Wheatley in Scotland. Immediate family survivors are her son, Dr. Brian Dunkelberger and his wife, Elaine of Johnson City, and a daughter, Sandra and her husband, James Ebersole of Atlanta. Joan is survived by four grandchildren: Amy and her husband Mark Chiozza of Memphis; Brian Jr. and his wife Becky Dunkelberger of Johnson City; Eric and his wife, Tricia Ebersole of Atlanta, and Scott and his wife, Wendi Ebersole of Atlanta. Joan has seven great grandchildren: John and Mathew Chiozza, Isabelle and Ella Dunkelberger, and Lauren Ebersole, and twins, Kendall and Bryce Ebersole.Joan was a life-long Episcopalian (Church of England) and a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church and choir of Johnson City. She was for many years an active member of the Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association British Heritage Society. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 11:00AM March 4 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home followed by a service at Morris Baker and internment at 11:45AM at the Monte Vista Mausoleum, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Johns Episcopal Church of Johnson City, The Alzheimers Association of Johnson City or Johnson City Washington County Animal Shelter.
