Joan Isobel Sell

Joan Isobel Sell, 81, of Johnson City passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Joan was a lifelong resident of Washington County and the daughter of the late Earl Walter Sell Sr. and Jeanne Lyle Sell. Joan was a graduate of Boones Creek High School and later of ETSU. She was an educator in her early years, teaching both in Washington County as well as in Chatham County, Georgia. In 1967 she became involved in the manufactured housing business, which she continued to work in until her retirement. She was involved in many organizations throughout her life, including the John Sevier chapter of the D. A. R., the United Daughters of the Confederacy, as well as the Grandview Order of the Eastern Star. Joan was a former president of the North East Tennessee Manufactured Housing Association and served on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Manufactured Housing Association. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her grandmother, Anne Mason Lyle, and a brother-in-law, Henry Roberts. Survivors include: two children, John Dale Moss and Anne Moss; one sister, Nancy Sell Roberts; two brothers, Earl W. 'Bud' Sell Jr. and his wife Alta, and James William 'Jim' Sell and his wife Carolyn; two grandchildren, Hayley Elizabeth Moss and Mason Lyle Moss; one great grandchild, Jonah Dale Moss; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family of Joan Sell will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Dale Cunningham officiating. A committal service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to gather at the graveside by 10:50 AM. Donations may be made to St. Joseph Indian School at 1301 N Main St, Chamberlain, SD 57325.
