JoAnn Phame Hughes, 53, of Johnson City, died Saturday, January 14, 2017 in the Johnson City Medical Center with her sisters and niece at her bedside. JoAnn was a native of Johnson City and a graduate of Heritage High School. She was a daughter of the late Cleven Honeycutt and Jeanette Bergeron. JoAnn had worked as a hairdresser. She loved animals and enjoyed raising show horses when she was younger. She had a passion for exotic wildlife preservation and especially loved lions, tigers, and other big cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hughes. She is survived by: two children, Brittney Natasha Phame Hughes and Joshua Wayne Hughes; two step children, Alan Hughes and Kathy Hollis; one grandchild, Haley Jade May; five siblings, David Ledford, Karen Hutchison and her husband Steve, Keith Honeycutt and his wife Teresa, Diane Cogdill, and Thomas Honeycutt and his wife Michelle; several nieces, nephews, and special friends; and her beloved dog, Alexis. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center for their compassion and care.
