Joe Pal Freeman, age 74, was pronounced dead on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He recently was a patient at the John M. Reed Nursing Home in Limestone. He was a son of the late Charles and Pauline Freeman. A graduate of the Class of 1954, Jonesborough High School, he had lived most of his life in Washington County. Mr. Freeman was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a musician at heart, having played drums in several area bands during his younger years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy F. Nelms. Survivors include: one son, Joe Pal Freeman II of Johnson City; one Daughter, Elizabeth Ann 'Libby'? Kulmac of Bethesda, Maryland; four grandchildren, Hali and Halston Freeman of Johnson City, Jesse Balsamo and Diana Kulmac of Bethseda, Maryland; one great grandson, Trae Gayle; one brother, James W. Freeman of Jonesborough; three sisters, Cheryl F. Laws, Barbara F. Rupert and Brenda F. Barnett, all of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family of Joe Pal Freeman will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday, June 14, 2010 at Morris-Baker South Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 8 PM in the South Chapel. Dr. Vic Young will officiate. A committal service will be conducted at Mountain Home National Cemetery at a later date.
