Joe W. Hodge, 87, 1 Fairway Court, died Saturday, October 22, 2005 at his residence following an extended illness. He was a native of Sullivan County and had lived in Washington County for most of his life. He was a son of the late Paul and Bennie Mills Hodge. He was a member of Princeton Presbyterian Church and had retired from Dossers Department Store. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hodge was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Hodge Guinn; a sister, Orba B. Malone; and a brother, Herschel Hodge. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Lillian McGee Hodge, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph J. and Frankie Buck Hodge; one granddaughter; three grandsons; two sisters, Mary Whitaker and Martha Arrowood, both of Johnson City; two brothers, Howard Hodge, Piney Flats, and Bob Hodge, Bristol; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Hodge will be conducted Monday October 24, 2005 at 2 PM in the Morris Baker South Chapel. Rev. John Gullett will officiate. Music will be provided by Mrs. Beverly Gullett. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be Willard Dugger, Harold Willingham, Lawrence Ford, Brian Bailey, Ralph Willingham, and Gerald Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be all active and inactive elders from Princeton Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM prior to the funeral service.
