John Allan Holmes

June 24, 1955 — January 14, 2011

John Allan Holmes, 55, of Jonesborough, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Johnson City, son of the late Clarence Edward and Lillian Agnes Nunez Holmes. John was a self employed mechanic and lawn care specialist. He was of the Catholic faith. He loved to work on classic cars and muscle cars, do gardening and anything outdoors. Survivors include: a son, John Frye of Johnson City; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Clarence Edward Holmes, Jr. of Denison, Texas, James Holmes and Debbie of Elizabethton, Tom Holmes and Kim of Johnson City, Danny Holmes and Cindy of Jonesborough; two grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; a special friend, Helen Frye of Johnson City. A mausoleum service will be conducted for family and relatives on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Monte Vista Memorial Park, under the direction of Rev. Lenny Smith. Family and relatives are asked to assemble at the Monte Vista Mausoleum. Active pallbearers will be selected from family members. Honorary pallbearers will be: Harry Purdy and Jerry Hodges. There will be no public visitation. The family would like to offer special thanks to: the Doctors and Nurses at Johnson City Medical Center, the staff at Princeton Transitional Care, Mt. States Hospice and Dr. Maatouk of the Regional Cancer Center. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to: the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Suite 102, Johnson City, TN 37601.
