John Carver “J.C.” Gage, 81, Gray, passed away Friday, August 16, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center.
J.C. was born in Mitchell County, NC to the late Bertha Verna and Carroll Gage.
J.C. worked in the service department at Stowers Machinery Corp., a local Caterpillar dealer, for over 40 years. He was previously a member of Keystone Presbyterian Church for many years, where he served as an elder, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, and a choir member. For the last five years, he has been a member of First Church of the Brethren. J.C. was also a member of the Johnson City Senior Citizens “Musical Voices”. He enjoyed working in his garden and wood working.
In addition to his parents, J.C. was preceded in death by: one son, Michael Wayne Gage, in 1980.
Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Kate Gage, of Gray; one son, John Alan Gage and his wife Donna, of Johnson City; one sister, Norma Smith, of Spruce Pine, NC; one brother, Gary Gage and his wife Rosalie, of Atlanta, GA; one grandson, Corey Gage, of Johnson City; two granddaughters, Jessica Gail Gage, of Johnson City, and Jennifer Puckett and her husband Jon, of Kingsport; two very special grandchildren, Paris and Cooper McDonald, of Charlotte, NC; three great grandchildren, Ryan, Ian and Aiden; a very special niece, Cindi Lynn McDonald and her husband Michael, of Charlotte, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
The family of J.C. will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at Morris-Baker. The funeral will follow at 7 PM with Pastor Bo Deaton and Pastor Paul Peer officiating. A committal service will be held Thursday at 10 AM at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Please meet at the funeral home by 9:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.
