John Robert Lyons

John R. Lyons, 56, of Johnson City passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Born on June 1, 1952 in Union City, Indiana the son of the Late Joseph 'Tubby'? and Charlotte LeFevre Lyons. John attended Divine Heart Seminary in 1966-67, graduated from Union City Community High School, United Electronic Institute, and East Tennessee State University where he was active in the Catholic (Neuman) Center. He was an active member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and The Eucharist Ministry Program. He belonged to the Singles Club of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. John was a long time employee of J.C. Pennys in addition to being employed by Appalachian Christian Village In-Home Services. He had been a business owner and also worked as an EMT. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: a brother, Michael; his Maternal Grandparents, Gaston and Hazel LeFevre; his Paternal Grandparents, Thomas and Mary Lyons. Those he leaves to cherish his memory; three brothers, Joe of Union City, IN, Dan and his wife Melody of Kissinnee, FL, and Patrick of Fort Mitchell, KY; three sisters, Mary Lyons White and husband Harry of W. Manchester, OH, Suzanne Lyons Vaughn and husband Jeff of Fredericksburg, VA, and Julia of Pittsburg, PA; six nieces and nephews ; two great nephews; many dear friends and close co-workers. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 AM Friday, November 7, 2008 in St. Marys Catholic Church. Father Anietie Akata will officiate. Interment will follow in the Union City Cemetery in Union City, Indiana on Saturday November 8, 2008. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 6 to 8 PM Thursday. Memorial gifts may be sent to the American Heart Association, 208 Sunset Drive, Johnson City, TN 37604 or the Diabetes Association. Memorial Mass request would be most welcome.
