John William Douglas, age 81, of #4 Beechwood Court, Johnson City, died Sunday, May 1, 2011 at his residence. He was a native of Bartow, Florida who had lived in Johnson City for fifteen years. Mr. Douglas was a U. S. Army Veteran and recipient of the Army of Occupation and World War II Victory Medals. He was retired from employment as an electrician. Mr. Douglas was of the Christian faith. Mr. Douglas was preceded in death by: his wife, Lorena R. Douglas, two sons, Mike and Steve Douglas, and his parents, Lawrence and Dallie Underwood Lockleer. Survivors include: three sons, John Douglas Jr., of Venice, FL, Walter Douglas, of Sarasota, FL, and Frank Douglas, of Moultrie, GA; two daughters, Nancy Dempsey, and her husband Wayne, Pasadena, TX, and Debbie Douglas, of Douglasville, GA; two sisters, Margret Gilmore, of Sarasota, FL, and her husband Dean, and Annie Lou Anderson, of Sarasota, FL; twelve grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren. No services are currently scheduled. Mr. Douglas remains will be interred in the U.S. National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN, at a later date.
