Johnny Lee Self

Johnny Lee Self, 52, of Johnson City, died Tuesday, May 31, 2001 at his residence. He was a native of Washington County, son of Almar Wishon Self of Johnson City and the late Robert L. Self. Johnny was a self-employed brick mason. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his father, a son, Justin Self, three brothers, Billy, Ray and Hubert Self and an uncle, Charles Wishon, Jr, preceded him in death. Survivors in addition to his mother include: his wife, Pauline Self of Johnson City; his first wife and son, Loretta and John Paul Reed; a daughter, Joni Self; two step children, Shainna Canova and Howard E. Bradley; two brothers and their wives, Bobby and Sherry Self, Stevie and Julie Self; four sisters and their husbands, Kathy and Luther Hartley, Ann and Randy Garland, Ginger and Larry Casey, Nellie and Charlie Gilbert, 12 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; many special friends all of Johnson City. A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Scalf Cemetery at Turkeytown under the direction of Bro. Russell Ward. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until time to leave in procession at 1:30 p.m. Active pallbearers will be: Charles Gilbert, David Lyons, Stevie Self, Bobby Self, Jason Humphrey and Matthew Hartley. Honorary pallbearers will be: James Tester, Danny Turbyfield, Thomas Self, Joni Self, Shainna Canova and John Paul Reed.
