Joseph Gordon McQueen, 97, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 29, 2024.
Joseph was born into the home of Samuel Dowell McQueen and Sudie Pearl Cross McQueen of Johnson City, Tennessee.
Joesph served his nation honorably in the United States Army during World War II.
Upon his return home from the war, Joseph married the love of his life, Myrtle Leona Leonard McQueen. They would share many memories and years together until her passing in 2010.
He was a strong, hardworking, self-employed contractor and farmer. He belonged to the Daniel Boone Coon Club and the Greenwood Ruritan. Fishing, coon hunting, golf, frisbee golf, and corn hole were among his favorite pastimes. All who knew him, loved and admired him.
Those remaining to cherish his memory include: one son, Joseph M. “Joey” McQueen (wife Sharon); one daughter, Teresa L. “Toni” McQueen Percell (husband Jack); five grandchildren, Christy Saladino (husband Mark), James McQueen (wife Jessica), Bree Emurian (husband Erik), Tammy Ponder (husband Craig), and Troy Percell; eleven great-grandchildren, Matthew McQueen (and Megan Hopkins), Morgan Anderson, Melvin McQueen, Emma Saladino, Evan Saladino, Chloe Emurian, Zane Emurian, Rachel Ponder (and Sabrina), Jonathan Ponder (and Megan), Taylor Stromski (and Martin), and Michael Percell; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren, Henry Hopkins, Charlie Hopkins, Theodore Hopkins, Kaden Roark, Lily Ponder, Elliot Ponder, Claire Ponder, Teagan Percell, Tallon Oliver, Joshua Stromski, Jonah Stromski, Layken Stromski, Jeremiah Stromski, and two due in June.
A visitation of family and friends is scheduled from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 4, 2024 in the Dogwood Chapel at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin promptly at 7:00 PM following the visitation, and officiated by Pastor Craig Ponder and Pastor Bryan Orchard.
A committal service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery no later than 11:45 AM.
Pallbearers will include: Joey McQueen, James McQueen, Troy Percell, Michael Percell, Melvin McQueen, Mark Saladino, Matthew McQueen, and Jonathan Ponder.
