Joseph Warren Crumley, 85, of Piney Flats, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at The Courtyards Senior Living in Johnson City.
He was a native of Piney Flats, son of the late John and Nell Kate Crumley.
Joseph was a kidder and a joker, who never met a stranger. He loved to spend his time fishing and being outdoors, enjoying nature and the wildlife.
He and his wife Virginia donated their home in 1990 to start Crumley House, an organization Joseph was very proud of.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: one brother, Gerald Crumley; a stepdaughter, Wendy Turner; and one niece, Amy.
Survivors include: His wife of 50 years, Virginia Crumley; stepchildren, Karen O’Brien, James Maddison, and Laurie Pierce; siblings, John Carl “Chuck” Crumley, Carolyn Pearson, and Donnie Crumley; close friend, Dennis Devereaux; and several nieces and nephews.
The family of Joseph Crumley will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Piney Flats. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Bryan Orchard.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Joseph’s honor to St. Paul UMC, or to the Johnson City Washington County Animal Shelter.
