Joseph William Adams

Joseph William Adams, 88, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at his home. He was a Tullahoma, TN native and a son of Woodward Abernathy and Marvel Gossage Adams. Mr. Adams received his Masters of Divinity from Emory University. He served as a Methodist minister for a number of years, as well as chief copy editor for the Johnson City Press. Following his retirement, he was a part-time minister at Holston Valley Unitarian Universalist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by one daughter, Jennifer Joy Adams, and one brother, Dan G. Adams. Survivors include two daughters, Alisa May and her husband Larry, Melissa Hammonds and her husband Kevin; one son, Andrew Adams; one brother, Woodward Adams; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family of Joseph Adams will hold a memorial service at 5 PM Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Holston Valley Unitarian Universalist Church.
