Joyce Elaine Durkee

Joyce Elaine Durkee, 88, of Winston-Salem, NC, died Friday, January 9, 2015, at the Oaks of Forsyth in Winston-Salem. She was a native of Lake Odessa, MI, daughter of the late Alva R. and Bessie Marie Burns Tingley. Joyce was a homemaker and member of the Unaka Avenue Baptist Church. She served along side her husband in his ministry in South Bend, IN, Johnson City, TN, and Winona Lake, IN before retiring in Johnson City, TN. In addition to her parents, her husband, Sherwood V. Durkee; her brother Robert Tingley, of Winona Lake, MI; and her great grandson Emory Durkee of Johnson City, TN, preceded her in death. Survivors include: her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Karen Durkee; three daughters, Kay Shorb and husband, Linn, Kathy Parcell and husband, Mike, Kristine Durkee and partner, Donna Hall; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren. A private entombment will be conducted in the Happy Valley Mausoleum.
