Judy Marie Gowin Austin, 67, of Hampton, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton.
She was born in Johnson City, a daughter of the late Charlie Miller Gowin and Elizabeth Farmer Gowin.
Judy was of the Baptist faith and of Cherokee heritage, both of which were points of pride.
She loved to travel and lived for many years in both California and Georgia before returning to East Tennessee in 2006, after retiring from Well Fargo Security Service in Atlanta.
Judy loved the mountains and took every chance to enjoy the great outdoors.
In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by two sisters, Ellen wells and Myrtle Ann Cook; three brothers, Steven Carter, Tommy Roy Gowin, and James Wayne Gowin; and beloved companion, Winston Blade Austin.
She is survived by her brother, Kenny Gowin, of Hampton; daughter, Lucille Marie “Rie” Wilson of Atlanta, GA; two granddaughters, Annalise Wilson and Emma Wilson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Per her wishes, Judy will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in the mountains.
