Julia Adelaide Reedy

May 14, 1912 — September 1, 2008

Julia Adelaide Lawson Reedy, fondly remembered as Tom, 96, a life long resident of Washington County, passed away Monday, September 1, 2008, at Appalachian Christian Village following an extended illness. She was born May 14, 1912, and lived her entire life in the Austin Springs-Boones Creek-Johnson City area. She was the daughter of the late J.P. and Cora Lee McQueen Lawson, and wife, for fifty-seven years, of the late Herman G. Reedy. Mrs. Reedy was a homemaker for most of her life and, during the late 1940s and 1950s, managed a small family owned Grocery Store Business. For the past fifty-eight years, she has been a devoted member of Marvins Chapel United Methodist Church and was also a member of The Order of The Eastern Star. A son, Dr. Edward Reedy and daughter-in-law Delta Hale Reedy of Marietta, Georgia; a grandson, Dr. Myles Lawson Reedy and wife Heather Pine Reedy of Greenville, North Carolina survive her. She is also survived by her namesake, apple of her eye, and great granddaughter, Adelaide Grace Reedy and will be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and family friends for her many Mrs. Reedy- isms that made us all smile. Three brothers, Marvin, Alfred and Willard Lawson and a sister, Lucy Cross, preceded Mrs. Reedy in death. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Marvins Chapel United Methodist Church, 1882 Old Boones Creek Road, Johnson City Tn. 37615 (423) 753-8821. The funeral service for Julia Adelaide Lawson Reedy will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday, September 6, 2008 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Rick Clowers and Chaplain R. Eric Jewett will officiate. The committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Sammy Slagle, Donnie Hamilton, Harold Johnson, H.M. Beard, Jr., Lee Freeman and Dr. Alex Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be: Lee Hale and Alice Merritt. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 5 to 7 PM Friday.
