June Kathleen Capps

April 15, 1925 — May 25, 2006

June S. Capps, 81, 1701 Buccaneer Court, Apartment 2, Johnson City died Thursday, May 25, 2006 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Capps was a native of Millhall, PA., and had lived in Johnson City for the past fifty-nine years. She was a daughter of the late Brooks and Matilda Zerbie Swartz. Mrs. Capps was a 1966 graduate of ETSU with a B.A. Degree in Nursing. She served as a Registered Nurse at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home for thirty-three years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and also the Pine Oaks Golf Course. She was also a member of the Tennessee Nurses Association and the National Nurses Association. Mrs. Capps is preceded in death by: her parents; a sister, Frances Leola McKean and two infant brothers. Survivors include: her husband of fifty-nine years, Leon B. Capps of the home; one daughter, Carolyn Capps Whedbee of Gray; four sisters, Ruthell Peterson of Clarion, PA, Mimes Martin Kimes of Jersey Shore, PA., Nancy Eiswert of Linden, PA., and Grace Mary Yocum of Rawlings, MD; two grandchildren, Cheryl Clendenon-Martin of Rhiner, VA., and William Allen Capps of Johnson City; three great grandchildren, Jordan Chase Clendenon of Johnson City, Joshua Chance Clendenon of Rhiner, VA., and Cody Alexander Capps of Johnson City; two brothers-in-law, Dana Teele of Dandridge, TN and Ellis Teele of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for June S. Capps will be conducted at 3 PM, Saturday, May 27, 2006 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. The Rev. Don Muncie will officiate. Interment will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Stacy Martin, David Whedbee, Allen Capps, Ellis Teele, Jerry Saylor and Tony Barnett. Honorary pallbearer will be Jim Saylor. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 1 to 3 PM Saturday prior to the service. To those who desire, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Building Fund, 105 S. Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37601.
