Kate Lee Hamlet, age 97, died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Hanover Manor, Ashland, Virginia. Mrs. Hamlet was a Limestone Cove native who had lived in Bristol for forty years before taking residence in the Appalachian Christian Village for over twenty-two years. Mrs. Hamlet was a daughter of the late William and Mary Lee Shultz Garland. She was a member of First Christian Church, where she was active in various church functions. She was also a member of the Civinettes. Mrs. Hamlet was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hamlet was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hamlet, deceased 1980, and one sister, Mrs. Roy Booher. Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, William G. and Rita Hamlet, of Ruther Glen, VA; one brother, Elmer Garland, Elizabethton; one sister, Mrs. Edwin Bruss, Grand Junction, CO; one sister-in-law, Elsie Garland, Limestone Cove; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Kate Hamlet will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Wednesday at Morris-Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Dr. Tim Wallingford, Minister, will officiate. On Thursday, April 21, 2005, a committal service will be conducted in the Glenwood Cemetery, Bristol, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for services.
