Katherine Honour

Katherine Lyons Honour, age 90, of Appalachian Christian Village, died Sunday, July 29, 2012. Mrs. Honour was born on April 29, 1922, In Nashville, and was the daughter of the late Robert Alexander and Ida Kate Hart Lyons. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Augustus Honour in 2003. Mrs. Honour was a graduate of Vanderbilt University, Tulane University School of Social Work, and East Tennessee State University. She worked in child welfare organizations and retired as director of Contact Ministries, Inc.. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as deacon and elder, circle chairman, and president of Presbyterian Women. She was president of the P.T.A at Cherokee Elementary School and vice president of the P.T.A. at University School. She belonged to the Monday Club of Johnson City and the Lioness Club. She is survived by her two children, Robert Eugene Honour, and his wife Amy Clontz Honour, of Charlotte, NC; and Rebekah Caroline Ramey and her husband Mark Douglas Ramey; five grandchildren, Jonathan Taylor Honour, Hannah Elizabeth Honour, Caroline Simpson Burleson Schmitt, Sara Banner Burleson, all of Charlotte, and Benjamin Grey Honour, of Cincinnati, OH. She gave her children a sense of community, of the importance of giving to those in need, and an appreciation for literature and the arts.
