Katherine Watts Wilhoit

January 10, 1920 — June 6, 2012

Katherine Watts Young Wilhoit, 92, of Johnson City, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Simpsonville, SC, daughter of the late George and Katherine McGowan Young. Katherine was a former director of Volunteers for the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Suzanne Wesley Sunday School Class and the South Side PTA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: a great grandson, Jackson Rice and four sisters, Elizabeth Godfrey, Mary McKinney, Lula Williams and Lucy Coley. Survivors include: her husband of 73 years, Kenneth E. Wilhoit of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jane Wilhoit Anderson of Johnson City, Nancy Wilhoit Norris and Steve of Nashville; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Kenneth Wilhoit and Donna of Windermere, FL; three granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Judy Rice and Herman and Janna Counts and Scott all of Johnson City, Katie Stone and Jarrod of Nashville; eight great grandsons, Johnathon Brandt, Zach Rice, Brayden Rice, Owen Counts, Fletcher Counts, Briar Stone, Derrick Rice and Bryn Rice; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, June 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. Garland Thayer. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. A committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Ted Garland, Herman Rice, Scott Counts, Jarrod Stone, Gene Shelton and Bud Rupert. An honorary pallbearer will be: Aldon Speer. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to First United Methodist Church, 900 Spring Street, Johnson City, TN 37602. The family would like to express thanks to the Senior Citizens Service of Blountville for their love and special care.
