Kathleen Sharon Ledford, 56, of Carter Co. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.She was a native of the Manville community of Scott Co., VA and a daughter of the late, Thomas Albert and Bessie Juanita Rhodes Smith. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Gilliam. Mrs. Ledford was employed by Walmart in Elizabethton and a former employee of United-Intermountain Telephone Company from 1974 - 1989. Mrs. Ledford was a member of the Kingsport Chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters She was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include; her husband, Walter Ledford; two daughters, Tammy Weise and her husband Todd of Gray and Sherry Ledford of Johnson City; three Grandchildren, Josh Williams of Johnson City and Taylor Weise and Tara Weise both of Gray; one Brother, Billy Smith of Church Hill; one uncle, Johnny Rhodes of Johns Island, SC; a special nephew, Danny Gilliam of Kingsport and a special niece, Diana Gilliam of Kingsport.Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 pm Saturday, June 4, 2011 from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Bill Greer will officiate. Burial services will be conducted at 12:30 pm Sunday from the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. The family and friends will meet at the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Saturday.
