Kathryn Elayne Moore (Kem) Berry, 58, passed into infinity on Friday, January 3, 2020. Her daughter, Marlee, was by her side upon Kem’s exit from this life. Her illness was brief and uncomplicated.
A Johnson City native and longtime Jonesborough resident, Kem majored in Fashion Merchandising. A woman of talents that spanned a spectrum, she found herself excelling in sales management and later served as marketing director for Legal Aid of Upper East Tennessee.
Kem’s most recognized passion was treading the boards in a theatrical stint of over twenty years. Favorite roles include a local production of the world’s longest running musical, The Fantasticks (her favorite and last role), Christopher Durang’s Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You, and a reconstruction of the 1920’s classic IRENE. She was also exceedingly proud of a vocal quartet with which she was involved for many years, a cappella, The Accidentals.
Kem is preceded in death by: her parents, Kyle Edward Moore and Margaret Teague Moore; beloved husband, Jeffrey Alan Berry; and sister, Jeanne (Kelly) Fryer.
Kem is survived by: two children, Marlee and Elijah; a brother, Joseph Moore; and in-laws, Margaret Berry and Joyce Elizabeth Potter.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 19, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 PM.
