Kathryn Lee Miller Hobson, 93, formerly of Johnson City, passed away on September 4, 2015 at the VITAS Hospice Unit in Stockbridge, GA. Born in Telford, she moved at a young age to Johnson City, where she resided until moving a year ago to be near family members in the Atlanta area. Kathryn was married to Clarence Hobson for 55 years, until his death in 1997. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Dosser?s Department Store. Following their retirement they operated an apple orchard and gave tours to local kindergarten classes. She loved to cook and do needlework, making cross-stitch pictures for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church where she volunteered at the reception desk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. Hobson, parents, Daniel and Nora Miller, and one sister, Marie O?Dell. Survivors include: three daughters, Nancy Badertscher and her husband Dave of McDonough, GA, Sue Moricle and her husband Wes, formerly of Kingsport and now living in Santee, SC, Mary Ann Guinn and her husband Brian of Greensboro, NC; one sister, Georgia Drake of Lexington, KY; 7 grandchildren, Wade Moricle and his wife Julie of Avondale Estates, GA, Rob Barrett and his wife Beckie of Athens, GA, Rebecca Phalen and her husband William of Marietta, GA, Jamie Moricle of Mechanicsville, VA, Kristi Stephens and her husband Micheal of McDonough, GA, Mindy Connor and her husband Sean of Glen Allen, VA, Allison Shroy and her husband Garrett of Black Diamond, WA; 11 great grandchildren, Atticus Barrett, Jack, Reba, and Lillian Phalen, Reilly and Emily Stephens, Sofie Moricle, Anthony, Lauren, Caleb, and Elizabeth Connor; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family of Kathryn Hobson will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2015 in the Munsey Memorial UMC chapel. The Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Pallbearers will be: Rob Barrett, Sean Connor, Alex Mayers, Wade Moricle, William Phalen, and Micheal Stephens. Procession will leave Munsey at 3:00 p.m. for 3:30 p.m. graveside services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Munsey Memorial UMC, 201 E. Market St., Johnson City, TN 37601.
