Kathryn Miller Wilder, 70, loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt, dedicated real estate professional, and Johnson City native, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at her home in the company of family following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born Kathryn Marie Miller in Johnson City Dec. 11, 1953, Kathryn was the daughter of the late Samuel Burkhead Miller and the late Anna Marie Irish Miller. She completed her high school education after attending Science Hill High School. She was a member of her family church, First United Methodist Church.
Kathryn spent several years in the banking industry and in 1985 embarked on a career of nearly 40 years in the real estate profession, becoming a licensed broker and certified residential specialist. At Century 21 Legacy, working with many colleagues she also called friends, Kathryn earned the Century 21 Gold, Sapphire and Topaz awards, after being voted No. 1 in the Reader’s Choice Awards earlier in her career.
Her devotion to both family and career was on display at work. It was the rare day when Kathryn wasn’t in the office, working on listings and closings, and laminating everything from family photos to newspaper clippings of her grandchildren’s achievements.
She treasured family time with her late parents, siblings, daughter and son-in-law and three granddaughters, and the large holiday gatherings with extended family at the hilltop home off South Roan Street that was the Miller family residence for more than 50 years.
In her personal time, Kathryn enjoyed working out at Lifestyles, now known as The Club, where she had been a member for four decades. She enjoyed walking and would often be seen making the loop around Liberty Bell School.
In addition to her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by husband Doyle Wilder, a sister, Elizabeth Ann Bradford, and a nephew, Matthew Nicholas Miller. She is survived by a daughter, Shawn Youngman and a son-in-law, Scott Youngman; three granddaughters, Ella Kathryn Youngman, Madelyn Cole Youngman, and Sophia Warren Youngman; stepson Mike Wilder and wife, Anna Wilder, and their daughters Caroline and Grace Wilder; stepson Brent Wilder and wife, Tanya Wilder, and their sons Knox and Luke Wilder; two brothers, Sam Miller and sister-in-law Susan Miller, and Bill Miller and sister-in-law Pam Miller; two sisters, Janet Miller Haas and brother-in-law Mike Haas, and Carol Miller Coburn and brother-in-law David Coburn; 12 nieces and nephews, and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews.
