Kathy Jean Hammitt

July 22, 1954 — August 25, 2015

Kathy Hammitt, 61, Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 peacefully at her home. Ms. Hammitt is a Johnson City native and daughter of the late William and Ethel Estep Hurley. She previously attended Clifton View Baptist Church in Johnson City. Ms. Hammitt loved all animals, and had a special place in her heart for homeless cats. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by: two brothers, William and Howard Hurley; and two sisters, Nancy Busler and Hildred Merritt. Survivors include: one son, Robert Feathers, and his fianc? Jennifer Williams; one daughter, Brandy Carver, and her husband Bobby Smith; four grandchildren, Christopher Barnett, Coty Feathers, Breanna Feathers, and Joshua Nutter; one great grandchild, Liberty Feathers; one sister, Dot Allen, and her husband Ted; special nephew, Jeff Busler; special brother-in-law, Paul Busler; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thank you to thank Mountain States Hospice for their care and compassion. The family of Kathy Hammitt will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 PM Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Mr. James Cretsinger officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Following the service, a procession will lead to Monte Vista Memorial Park for 3:00 PM graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain States Hospice, 509 Med Tech Parkway, Johnson City, TN 37604 or Washington County ? Johnson City Animal Shelter, 3411 N. Roan Street, Johnson City, TN 37601.
