Mr. Kelly Gibson, age 80, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at his residence. Mr. Gibson was a native of Greeneville, TN. He was the son of the late Kelly Thomas Gibson, Sr. and Margaret McAmis Gibson. Mr. Gibson proudly served his country in two tours in Vietnam in the U.S. Army. He retired from the U.S. Army as Sergeant First Class. He was owner and operator of the Task Force Courier Service for twelve years. He was a member of the Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Nancy Beatrice Gibson of the home; two daughters, Ginger Medlock and her husband Steve of Gray and Connie Marie Spence and her husband Hugh of Dallas, Texas; one brother, William McAmis Gibson; two grandchildren, Chandler Spence of Dallas and Elizabeth Spence of Dallas; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Kelly Gibson will be conducted at 10 AM Friday December 21, 2012, in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. Michael Lester and Rev. David Lovelace will officiate. The graveside committal service will follow in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be nephews. The Boone Dam Post # 4933 and the Tennessee National Guard will accord military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, December 20, 2012 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, 418 North State of Franklin, Johnson City, Tn. 37604 or the Salvation Army Ministry, 200 Ashe Street, Johnson City, Tn. 37601.
