Kenneth H. Verneuille, 84, of Piney Flats, went home to be with his Lord on July 30, 2016 at his residence. He was the son of the late Daniel H. Verneuille and Winona Runyan-Van Looven. Ken proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper. He worked as a mechanic for Pan American Airlines for 32 years. He was a member of the Johnson City Sail and Power Squadron, an avid diver and boatsman, and past winner of the Pan Am spearfishing tournament. He was a member of Piney Flats First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Donnell Verneuille. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Wanda Verneuille; two children, Michael Verneuille and his wife Debbie, of Racine, WI, and Sherrell Mayo and her husband Keith, of Miami, FL; three grandchildren, Kristal, Mathew, and Nicole; and two great grandchildren, Michael and Giovanni. The family of Ken Verneuille will receive friends from 6 pm to 7 pm Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Piney Flats First Baptist Church, 100 Cherry St., Piney Flats. A memorial service will follow at 7 pm Thursday under the direction of Dr. Allen Davis. Military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Piney Flats First Baptist Church Building Fund, Mountain States Hospice, or the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
